NEC continues dramatic growth in LCD projection market with introduction of new portable LCD projectors
Business Wire, May 28, 1997
ITASCA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 28, 1997--Building on years of success in the LCD projection market, NEC Technologies Inc. today unveiled the new MultiSync(R) MT Series of portable LCD projectors.
The new generation of projectors offers higher resolutions, brighter images and excellent contrast in a lightweight, portable package.
The presentation standards for business and educational institutions is becoming more sophisticated. Mobile presenters require a technology that enables them to utilize color graphics, motion and stereo sound for presentations that captivate their audiences. The new MultiSync MT Series LCD projectors incorporate extremely bright images with high contrast ratios and a variety of ease-of-use features that allow the presenter to focus on the content and not the technology.
"As a leading presentation technology company, NEC Technologies draws on more than a decade of presentation experience to offer a complete line of LCD projectors that are feature-rich, easy-to-use and highly portable," said Jeff Fors, senior product specialist with NEC's Visual Systems Division. "We've taken those many years of experience, combined with our success in the LCD projection marketplace and developed a product offering that will truly capture the imagination of our customers and allow them to tap their creativity for more powerful presentations."
Building on the heritage of the award-winning MultiSync family of monitors and other presentation products, NEC's Visual Systems Division has aggressively captured market share with the previous MultiSync MT Series LCD projectors. The new MultiSync MT Series generation builds on that momentum and brings LCD projection technology to the next level. The projectors utilize active-matrix TFT LCD (liquid crystal display) in resolutions from 640 x 480 to 1280 x 1024 that offer 16.7 million colors for extremely clear, bright images with even illumination. And because the MultiSync MT Series LCD projectors are extremely quiet, they can be placed on a conference table during a presentation without distracting the audience.
Additional MultiSync MT Series features include:
-- AccuBlend(TM) Intelligent Pixel Blending Technology -- The MultiSync MT Series projectors provide end-users with additional resolution capability without the additional cost. Using a revolutionary technology, the projectors are capable of displaying compressed resolutions using a complex mathematical algorithm to provide an excellent image that offers remarkably true resolution without the associated expense.
-- NEC InstaCare(SM) Program -- NEC Technologies has set the industry standard with its InstaCare service program. Two years of InstaCare coverage comes standard with each projector, giving customers the assurance of overnight replacement or 72-hour repair and return service in the event of a malfunction. NEC Technologies pays for overnight delivery to and from the customer in both the United States and Canada. The service is available for a nominal charge for a third year.
-- All-in-One-Remote Control -- A completely redesigned remote control provides users with the industry's latest "mouse" technology with full sweeping motion to control both the projector and the notebook computer. The remote features a built-in laser pointer for added presentation impact and a wide-area infrared system that enables the presenter to control the projector or computer from virtually anywhere in the room.
-- Image Capture for Mobile Presentations -- The new MultiSync MT Series projectors feature an image capture capability that allows up to eight images to be stored in the projector's memory for future retrieval and use. Ideal for corporate logos and frequently used images, the feature enables the user to capture and store any image for long-term storage. Or, the feature can be used for short presentations, eliminating the need to carry a notebook computer.
The Multi-Sync MT810 LCD Projector weighs in at just over 15 pounds and offers true 640 x 480 and 800 x 600 resolutions, as well as 1024 x 768 resolution using AccuBlend Intelligent Pixel Blending Technology. It also supports 640 x 480 and 832 x 624 resolutions for Macintosh users. The projector is compatible with most widely used computer and video sources including both Macintosh and PC notebook and desktop computers. The MultiSync MT810 offers 550 ANSI lumens and will begin shipping in July 1997 with an SRP of $8,495.
