Legato Systems to Integrate Stac Disaster Recovery Technology; NetWorker/Replica Integration Provides Distributed Disaster Recovery for Windows NT and NetWare Systems

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 1997--Legato Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:LGTO), a leader in the enterprise storage management software market, and Stac, Inc. (NASDAQ:STAC), a leader in the disaster recovery software market, today announced that they are entering into a joint technology and marketing agreement. The terms of the agreement call for the two companies to integrate Stac's award-winning Replica 3 disaster recovery solution with LeLegato's Global Enterprise Management of S torage (GEMS). The

integration of Replica with GEMS and NetWorker gives enterprise customers access to a leading disaster recovery and systems management solution for Windows NT and NetWare as part of a complete suite of data and storage management applications.

Legato intends to continue to enhance NetWorker for Windows NT to remain tightly integrated with the Microsoft Windows NT operating system enhancements. Working with Stac, Legato intends to provide versions of Replica that will support future Windows NT enhancements, including NT Changer Media Services (NTMS), NT Directory Services, and NT Distributed File System (Dfs).
