Sensormatic Authorizes Settlement Negotiations With the SEC

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 10, 1997--Sensormatic Electronics Corporation (NYSE:SRM) announced last week that it hopes to resolve before the end of the calendar year the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) investigation which began in 1995 and has been previously announced. Sensormatic also had announced an agreement to settle shareholder class action suits also previously reported. The settlement of the class action suits is subject to court approval.
Sensormatic has authorized its counsel to enter into negotiations to settle the proposed administrative SEC action arising out of the investigation. The proposed action would include allegations to which the Company would neither admit nor deny that certain of Sensormatic's financial statements prior to fiscal year 1996 were misstated. A settlement of this proposed action is not expected to have a material impact on Sensormatic. There can be no assurance a settlement will be reached.
