Unisys Adds Skills Center in Philippines to Year 2000 Date Change Arsenal

Business Wire, Nov 18, 1997

BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NOV. 18, 1997--In its continuing campaign to bring superior Year 2000 date change services to clients worldwide, Unisys Information Services Group Tuesday announced the opening of a Year 2000 Skills Center in Manila, the Philippines.

The Manila Center will focus on multivendor environments and has selected the STA/Fieldex IBM MVS COBOL as its primary analysis and renovation tool.

This is the latest addition of resources and skills to Unisys TEAM2000, the company's global organization that is managing century date change projects. The Manila center will serve as a hub for Year 2000 solutions for all of Asia, and, if appropriate, will assist clients around the globe.

"Our market research shows that Asia is just beginning to address Year 2000 issues," said Mark Lo, managing principal. "We anticipate a number of major new client engagements. The Manila Skills Center will ensure that the resources are in place."

"In addition to offering Year 2000 renovation experts and computing resources, the Manila team is participating in our standardized factory process methodology," noted Susan Thomas, director of Unisys TEAM2000. "This ensures clients a uniform, proven project approach and an efficient management process."

Unisys Year 2000 Skill Centers are already successfully operating in Sofia, Bulgaria; Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; Bangalor, Delhi and Mumbai, India; and Virginia Beach, Va., USA.

To date, Unisys is working with more than 150 clients to address the Year 2000 date change.
