Microsemi Signs Agreement With Digi-Key
Business Wire, Nov 3, 1997
SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1997--Microsemi Corp. (Nasdaq: MSCC) Monday announced that it has signed an agreement with Digi-Key Corp. of Thief River Falls, Minn.
The agreement franchises Digi-Key to become a distributor of Microsemi products. The agreement represents a significant accomplishment for Microsemi in signing a major catalog and distribution company.
Digi-Key has experienced significant growth since its inception in 1972 and the addition of Microsemi represents an opportunity for them to further strengthen their discrete semiconductor product offerings. Digi-Key is the world's largest electronics catalog distributor, mailing more than 900,000 catalogs every 60 days to its customer base.
"This is an example of how Microsemi is expanding its sales coverage through new marketing channels to cover a broader array of new customers," said Philip Frey Jr., president and CEO of Microsemi. "Digi-Key serves a section of the market that is not in our `mainstream' customer base. We are optimistic that this will further our exposure to the growing commercial sector of our business."
Microsemi is a multinational supplier of high-reliability power semiconductors, surface-mount and custom diode assemblies for the electronics, computer, telecommunications, space, defense and medical markets.
