Business Wire, Nov 5, 1997
MENLO PARK, Calif., and CONCORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 1997--CBT Systems Ltd. and Sybase(TM) Inc., today announced that they have expanded their exclusive long-standing agreement to include co-development of interactive education software for PowerBuilder(TM) 6.0, the new version of Sybase's market-leading business application development tool.
CBT Systems, which produced with Sybase/Powersoft interactive courseware for PowerBuilder 4.0 and PowerBuilder 5.0, plans to deliver 80 hours of certification-level training courseware to PowerBuilder application developers. The curriculum is expected to be available in early 1998.
"CBT Systems has been a valued partner in helping Sybase meet the ongoing training needs of our customers," said Brad Samargya, vice president of Education Services at Sybase, Inc. "We continue to work with CBT Systems because of the high quality of its interactive learning products, along with the considerable in-house expertise it has developed in creating courseware for the previous two versions of our PowerBuilder application development tool. We feel that CBT Systems' innovative approach to interactive learning combines conceptual and hands-on training to enable developers to leverage the advanced features of PowerBuilder 6.0 quickly, easily, and effectively."
"With PowerBuilder 6.0, Sybase is delivering a set of world-class productivity tools for enterprise application developers who need to create distributed, component based applications that can be flexibly deployed in a diverse range of architectures," said James J. Buckley, CBT Systems president and CEO. "CBT Systems is pleased to be expanding our agreement with Sybase for the third time to include courseware for the next-generation PowerBuilder environment."
Beginning PowerBuilder 6.0 courses in the CBT Systems curricula provide new developers with a foundation in PowerBuilder technology, including DataWindow(TM) and user interface fundamentals. Intermediate courses provide developers with the knowledge and skills to create sophisticated object-oriented applications. Courses for advanced PowerBuilder developers cover distributed and Internet application development techniques.
