Intergraph and Asante Introduce Interserve Prepress Server Productivity Pack With NetDoubler for Windows NT
Business Wire, Oct 1, 1997
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1997--
Bundle Provides Customers With Fast Throughput for Graphics File
Transfers to Windows NT Servers
Intergraph Computer Systems and Asante Technologies Inc. today announced that Asante's NetDoubler(TM) for Windows NT network acceleration software will be bundled with Intergraph's InterServe(TM) line of PrePress servers.
With NetDoubler, customers utilizing Intergraph Windows NT-based servers can realize up to four times faster throughput over a non-NetDoubler equipped machine during large file transfers over the network. The added performance boost provides Macintosh users with faster access to the InterServe PrePress Servers, increasing overall productivity in creative services and production environments.
Ideal for prepress and publishing shops, NetDoubler dramatically increases the performance of copies, opens, and saves of large files across Ethernet and Fast Ethernet networks, thus eliminating the need for traditional "sneakernet" and data compression technologies.
"The inclusion of NetDoubler in our InterServe PrePress Server Productivity Pack underscores our determination to eliminate all of the technical barriers to productivity that slow down the creative and production process for publishing professionals," said Jim Lambert, executive director of Intergraph's Publishing & PrePress division.
"This bundle gives users extra-fast performance when sending large and complex graphics files to the InterServe PrePress Server without any worries about compatibility or slow transfer rates. It's a win-win situation for the clients and for anyone operating the server, whether it's a production department in a large corporation or an independent service bureau," Lambert said.
"Asante is committed to providing customers in the graphics, prepress and publishing industries with network solutions designed to increase productivity," said Jeff Lin, president and CEO at Asante. "The bundle of NetDoubler for Windows NT with Intergraph's powerful InterServe PrePress Servers allows users to realize a significant network performance boost and eliminate file transfer bottlenecks."
Dramatic Throughput for Large Graphics Files
The InterServe PrePress Servers are a powerful yet affordable Windows NT-based product line offering industry-leading performance for servers in the prepress market. They provide sizzling performance for I/O- and CPU-intensive tasks in the prepress industry, including RIPing, OPI processing, and direct-to-plate output.
The InterServe PrePress Servers are available in either single or dual Pentium II processor configurations, or in single-, dual- or quad-Pentium Pro configurations. These servers, combined with the multi-threaded capabilities of Windows NT, greatly enhance throughput for production of large graphics files. The InterServe PrePress Server Productivity Pack represents an integral part of Intergraph's commitment to providing seamless file-sharing in heterogeneous production environments.
