Business Wire, Oct 13, 1997

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 13, 1997--Corsair Technology Inc. announced that it has acquired the Spin-X(R) Printing Solutions product line from Georgia State University Research Foundation (GSURF).

Corsair officials said the company will expand the Spin-X product line and continue to service existing customers.

Spin-X Printing Solutions provide software-based, state-of- the-art business solutions for production printing needs. Designed specifically for use within medium- to high-volume mixed mainframe network environments, the Spin-X suite of products enables companies to dramatically expand their choice of, and accessibility to, contemporary printers. The Spin-X suite of printing products -- Spin-X/LPR-LPD, Spin-X/XPRESS, Spin-X/RMS and Spin-X/CENTRAL -- provide Unisys 2200 and ClearPath IX users with unprecedented control over their printed output, without requiring application changes.

"Corsair will continue to produce industry-leading solutions, such as those GSURF has provided for over a decade," said Art Jimenez, Corsair president. "Our goal is to make it easier for companies with vast volumes of printed information to coordinate their printing needs across various platforms and multiple printers. Spin-X allows them to do that."

While the original suite of Spin-X products is targeted to a specific mainframe market, Corsair is dramatically expanding its multilevel presence with the introduction of its new products. Jimenez cited Corsair's latest offering, Spin-X/Vista, which is compatible with a wide-variety of platforms, including AS/400, UNIX, NT and IBM/MVS.

About Spin-X/Vista

About Georgia State University Research Foundation (GSURF)

Technicians at Georgia State University (GSU) originally created the Spin-X products in 1984 to resolve a production printing problem that existed between the Unisys mainframe and Xerox high speed laser printers. When GSU realized the commercial viability of the Spin-X products, the project was transferred to GSURF. Under the control of GSURF, the Spin-X product line was enhanced beyond Xerox printers to include connections to IBM, StorageTek, Siemens (now Oce) printers and a variety of other industry leading printers.
