Hitachi Announces Support For Microsoft Windows CE 2.0

NORCROSS, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 13, 1997--Hitachi Home Electronics (America) Inc. announced today its support for Microsoft(R) Windows(R) CE 2.0 for the Handheld PC, reserving its plans to announce details about specific Windows CE 2.0 product offerings, availability and pricing for the coming weeks.
A global leader in the digital convergence arena, Hitachi is one of the first companies to market a Handheld PC with Microsoft's Windows CE 1.0 operating system.
Most appealing to Hitachi is Windows CE 2.0 modular, scalable design, enabling rich connectivity, communications and interoperability among the more than 250 supporting applications and peripherals, including wireless e-mail solutions and contact management and productivity software for vertical markets. With its predecessor operating system regarded as the de facto standard embedded in handheld devices, Windows CE 2.0 for the Handheld PC has an intuitive interface with support for web browsing, development tools, and a host of general personal productivity applications.
