The Sports Club Co. Inc. and Gold's Gym Announce Termination of Acquisition Discussions

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 1997--The Sports Club Co. Inc. (AMEX:SCY) and Gold's Gym Enterprises Inc. Wednesday announced that they had terminated negotiations regarding the acquisition by the Sports Club Co. of the 32-year-old Gold's Gym, which owns one fitness facility and acts as franchisor with respect to approximately 500 other clubs both in the United States and internationally.
The Sports Club Co. Inc. operates upscale health and fitness clubs under the Sports Club and Spectrum Club names.
