"It was important for Sun to get to market as quickly as possible, with a highly scalable mail server that included a reliable SMTP/MIME MTA as the core message transfer technology," said John McFarlane, vice president and general manager of Sun's network software group. "By selecting PMDF from Innosoft, with its proven performance history as a leading Internet standards-based MTA, we were able to achieve both objectives."
"Innosoft's engineering team has played a major leadership role in the evolution of Internet messaging standards, including having shipped the first commercial implementation of MIME back in May of 1992," said Clyde Johnston, president of Innosoft. "There is no substitute for our many years of hands-on experience driving what has become the dominant trend in enterprise messaging -- the adoption of Internet standards-based messaging protocols. With Sun Internet Messaging Server, Sun is integrating what we obviously believe to be the best MTA technology with Sun's world class message store and the market-leading Solaris(TM) operating environment to take to market what we expect will be a real winner."
