intelligently routing URL requests to the web server that is most
capable of handling the request. The master load-balancing

"Today's networked environments are challenging network managers to find the most powerful and cost-effective platform strategies for delivering enterprise applications," said Lawrence A. Genovesi, Network Engines' etworld Interop Demonstration Features Unprecedented Power and Storage in a Single Platform
With 30 engines supporting a complete enterprise server solution that can be housed in a single rack cabinet, Network Engines is demonstrating its unique ability to provide the future for clustered computing.
The demonstration highlights a high density multi-user P6000/TC WinFrame server, load-balanced across 10 engines working collaboratively. A P6000/WC with another 10 engines supports Web server applications, two of which are dedicated to load-balancing and fail-over enabled. The P6000/CS provides a variety of Microsoft-based applications including SQL server and Exchange server.
In addition to the newly announced, dedicated servers, the demonstration also includes Network Engines' flagship P6000/EXP, which provides all the enterprise communications services, including FAX, RAS, voice and proxy services for security.
Built on Unique Platform
Network Engines' three new clustered application servers are built on the P6000 platform, providing consistency and compatibility across the entire product family.
With its unique linear scalability and world-class fault- tolerance, the P6000 clustered server provides network managers with a cost-effective and powerful system. As many as 10 application engines can be configured per chassis. As needs grow, network managers simply need to add additional engines to support the increased demand.
"True clustering is the ability for independent computers to function collaboratively via a high-speed interconnect to serve a single application," Genovesi added. "Unlike many approaches to clustering that share common memory and have many single points of failure, Network Engines' distributed approach ensures the highest availability in the industry."
Regardless of how many engines are added, the entire system can be managed as a single entity. Each server supports power redundancy, hot-swappable drive sub-systems, automatic fail-over and complete systems monitoring, providing users with maximum uptime for business critical applications. In the event of a failure, the system can be programmed to automatically take action to recover instantaneously or within minutes.
Network Engines, Inc., headquartered in Randolph, Massachusetts, is a leading supplier of high-performance, fault-tolerant, load- balanced clustered application servers. To meet the increasing requirements for applications availability, the company's products employ the power of Intel-based processors, all clustered in a single server environment for linear scalability, security and manageability.
