SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 1997--Ligos Technology, a leading developer of 3-D and multimedia authoring software for the Internet, today announced it has begun shipping the latest version of its award-winning VRML authoring package.
V-Realm Builder 2.1 allows Web developers to energize their sites by providing them with powerful tools that bring the excitement of 3-D to the Internet. This new version includes improved rendering speed, improved support for scripts and PROTOs, and new shortcuts that make this software easier-to-use than ever before.
"Interactivity and visual excitement are the keys to success on the Internet," said Peter Forman, chief executive officer of Ligos Technology. "V-Realm Builder 2.1 provides content creators with the tools they need to make Web sites stand out in today's highly competitive Internet environment."
In recent months, through the adoption of new generation 4.0 Web browsers with built-in VRML viewers, several million Internet users have begun receiving exciting interactive 3-D content without prior downloading of any special plug-ins. This has heightened the overall experience of Web browsing and has led to an explosion of opportunities to use this international standard as an integral part of Web site design.
V-Realm Builder 2.1 allows Web designers and content providers to create visually enhanced Internet sites by providing them with a set of creative tools that take full advantage of the unique capabilities of VRML 2.0 (Virtual Reality Modeling Language). These tools, unleashed by a new generation of Web browsers that allow seamless integration of VRML into traditional HTML sites, deliver impressive 3-D graphics and interfaces that can be used to create a variety of exciting Web content, including interactive advertising, data visualization and virtual reality applications.
With V-Realm Builder 2.1, businesses can now take full advantage of their investment in the Internet by bringing a new level of excitement to their Web sites.
Other new features V-Realm Builder 2.1 include a method for allowing users to find nodes by name; a status bar display that shows rendering speed in frames per second; a method for embedding textures images directly in VRML files, reducing the number of files; and a method for allowing the user to see the node being referenced.
