Worldview Expands Online Travel Market Position with 20 New Distribution Agreements, Including CUC International Inc., Hilton Hotels Corporation and BigYellow
Business Wire, Sept 22, 1997
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 1997--Further cementing its market position as a leading creator, consolidator and re-marketer of electronic travel and entertainment information, Worldview Systems Corporation today announced 20 new Internet distribution agreements -- including CUC International Inc., Hilton Hotels Corporation and BigYellow(SM) -- bringing its total Web site partnerships to 34.
Thirteen of the new agreements are for the full-service, private-label travel information and booking product, Outtahere, which is produced jointly by Worldview and Internet Travel Network. Seven agreements were signed exclusively for variations of Worldview's destination information, online travel magazine, community area and mall.
"Worldview's business strategy of private-labeling a turnkey travel service is resonating with many customers because it gives them immediate access to a premium travel planning and transacting functionality that is fully supported and maintained by Worldview," said Neal Checkoway, president and chief executive officer of Worldview. "Partners can choose any level of customization to meet the needs of their online users and to gain competitive advantage. They essentially outsource the overhead and responsibility of producing and updating 300,000 electronic pages of rich, time-sensitive content."
20 New Internet Distribution Agreements
The new agreements include Outtahere's first five international distribution sites. Two Web sites in India -- India World, India's largest Web site, and khoj, a searchable Internet directory to India -- have signed license deals for Outtahere. Sysnet, a major Internet service provider in Taiwan; Torstar Electronic Publishing in Toronto, Canada; and Intercom, a new Web site in Spain featuring vacation rental properties, have also licensed Outtahere's travel information and booking services for their sites. -0-

New Agreements Expand Worldview Travel Network's Advertising Inventory
Companies deploying Outtahere and Worldview's information can join the Worldview Travel Network, an online advertising and sponsorship network of distribution partner sites. WTN gives advertisers selective access to Worldview's and Outtahere's participating Web partners. Analysts at Jupiter Communications recently concluded that "the process of buying online advertising through a network of qualified travel sites -- one-stop shopping for travel-related banners -- can only help boost ad sales on those pages created and managed by Worldview, but served at participating sites."
