CYRANO Impact Now Enables Companies To Test Oracle-based Database Servers Before Enterprise-wide Application Deployment

Business Wire, Sept 23, 1997

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 23, 1997--

CYRANO's Simulation Tool Enables Companies To Save Time And Money

By Optimizing Database Performance

CYRANO today announced its leading user load simulation software now supports Oracle-based database servers, enabling companies to tune their client/server applications for optimal performance before they are deployed. This early performance problem detection ensures application quality and saves companies valuable time and money by optimizing database servers early in the development cycle instead of waiting until the end, when re-work is more expensive and time consuming.

CYRANO Impact is the core product of CYRANO's ServerPack, a toolset that enables developers to locate performance bottlenecks and concurrency issues in their database servers. The CYRANO tools do this by generating realistic user load-test simulations, measuring response times, detecting unacceptable performance, and explaining why performance problems occurred. To help developers determine how the Oracle database server portion of their application will perform before they spend time and money deploying it throughout their enterprise, CYRANO Impact enables them to simulate the load generated by hundreds or thousands of client/server users, and analyze and pinpoint any performance bottlenecks in the server. In addition to testing applications developed in-house, companies can use CYRANO Impact to test third-party software packages to help them understand potential future problems at the database level.

During deployment testing, CYRANO Impact uses real business data rather than randomly generated patterns to provide a realistic scenario for testing user loads. If the system does not perform well, CYRANO Impact also analyzes the database and pinpoints the causes of failure, enabling developers to fix the problem and re-test in minutes without having to write any new code. Competitive tools simply increase user loads until the system fails, leaving the developer to determine the cause of the problem.

"There are several important issues companies need to address when they choose a stress testing tool. For mission critical applications the most important is the ability to identify and eliminate every performance bottleneck before developers deploy the system to users. CYRANO Impact is the only stress testing tool that does this, and is now available for Oracle databases users as well," said Pat Pruchnickyj, senior vice president of product marketing at CYRANO.

Availability and pricing

CYRANO Impact is available for Oracle-based applications immediately. Pricing starts at $37,500.
