Hi/fn Ships Industry's Fastest Compression Coprocessor
Business Wire, Sept 24, 1997
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 24, 1997--The Hi/fn 9610 50-megabytes-per-second data compression coprocessor is now available from Hi/fn.
The 9610 is used in tape drives, color printers and networking applications that require very high data rates.
The 9610 sells for $49.20 in 10K quantities.
The 9610 supports a single multiple-session compression history. At 50 megabytes per second, the 9610 is fast enough to support applications such as a T3 data communications line or high-speed server back-up. Some of the 9610's industry-leading performance comes from 2K of on-board content addressable memory.
Hi/fn's compression and encryption technology is a basic ingredient of the Internet. For example, nearly all network router manufacturers use Hi/fn's patented technology. Hi/fn integrated circuits are also found in firewalls, remote access servers, tape back-up systems and similar equipment.
