Coalition Formed to Address Needs of ISO 9000 Professionals; Fujitsu Software Introduces New ISO 9000 Certification Methodology Nation-Wide
Business Wire, Sept 25, 1997
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 1997--Taking a leadership position in helping companies ease the pain of ISO 9000 certification, Fujitsu Software Corporation has joined forces with XIS Consulting and Interleaf, Inc. to introduce a new methodology to ISO 9000 professionals.
A seminar series to promote these efforts will begin in San Jose on Sept. 30.
The coalition is encouraging companies to examine their business processes, not documents, as a more effective way of achieving ISO 9000 certification while ensuring a genuinely positive impact on their businesses.
The ISO 9000 Seminar Series will illustrate the importance of this emphasis on "process," the value of the coalition's team approach to ISO 9000, and give attendees hands-on experience with the best tools for workflow and document management: TeamWARE Flow workflow and Interleaf's web-based Xtreme and RDM document publishing and management software.
Further enhancing the value of the seminars, attendees will receive a free CD-ROM version of ISO 9000 Management Systems Manual by James Davies, vice president of XIS Consulting and keynote speaker for the seminar series. This handbook details the new ISO 9000 methodology and the requirements companies must meet to achieve and maintain certification. Information is presented in a clear, simplified manner uncharacteristic of most publications on ISO 9000. Attendees will find this resource a valuable source of concepts and ideas on implementing an ISO 9000 management system.
The charter members of the coalition complement the needs of ISO 9000 professionals. XIS Consulting has established an enviable reputation for providing innovative management consulting for business performance improvement and process management. XIS management consulting solutions emphasize a process-oriented rather than a document-based approach to management system design and implementation.
Interleaf provides software solutions for enterprise-active publishing, with advanced open software products that integrate document management, including Xtreme, a web-based document publishing system. Interleaf is the first in the industry to provide certified, high fidelity, 100% Java-viewer technology and has well over 10 years experience implementing ISO 9000 solutions.
Fujitsu's TeamWARE Flow is a new-generation, flexible workflow product that is part of a globally successful technology suite. TeamWARE Flow helps organizations plan for certification by documenting existing processes and monitoring compliance. TeamWARE Flow provides an automated audit trail to help companies maintain compliance even as their businesses change. TeamWARE Flow's graphical display makes it easy to define processes and to see where they can be improved. The software's flexibility assures a useful life span for ISO solutions.
"While the urgency of ISO 9000 is forefront in the minds of many organizations today, and many invest substantially in the certification process, most treat it as an end in and of itself," said Harry Dent, director of Sales, TeamWARE Products. "As a team, our solution helps companies achieve certification faster and more easily, while improving their business processes at the same time. Equally importantly, it helps ensure these improvements continue long after the initial certification."
The first seminar will be held in San Jose, Sept. 30 at the Santa Clara Westin. Two sessions will be held, one from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and repeated again from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Seminars are also being presented in Houston, Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles.
