Xinet Launches Color Vrit; ICC-Compatible Color Correction Engine to Provide End-to-End Color Fidelity
Business Wire, Sept 26, 1997
BERKELEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 26, 1997--Xinet Inc. announced today the launch of Color Vrit(TM), an International Color Consortium (ICC) conforming color correction engine.
Color Vrit makes use of scanning and printing device profiles to ensure reliable end-to-end color fidelity. It comes bundled with FullPress, Xinet's prepress server, and will perform color correction on images when they are replaced during the Open Prepress Interface (OPI) image-substitution process. Administrators will be able to decide whether or not FullPress will use Color Vrit on a volume by volume, print queue by print queue basis.
"We joined the ICC and developed our own color correction engine so that our customers who use Color Vrit will be supported on the platforms on which FullPress runs," said Scott Seebass, Xinet's CEO. "Color Vrit is a complete implementation of the ICC specifications, without shortcuts. It's engineered to ensure quality results and take full advantage of high performance processors," he continued.
Color Vrit is also available for licensing by OEMs, in both object and source code versions. -0-
ICC color correction is targeted at customers who want to automate the process of conversion between color spaces, and who want to have accurate matches between proof, output, and final film. Some time saving features of Color Vrit are:
- Images can be left in scanner format (usually RGB) - Images are corrected for each device on output - There is no need to hand-correct every image - Previews can be corrected for a common screen target -0-
Color Vrit will be demonstrated at Seybold San Francisco, booth no. 3516. For more information, contact Xinet at 510/845-0555, or via email, to sales@xinet.com . Or visit the Xinet web site at www.xinet.com .
Xinet has been developing and marketing AppleShare solutions since 1985. The company specializes in prepress server software, introducing leading-edge technology to improve the prepress workflow. -0-
