Trillium Digital Systems Inc. Announces Software Portation to Force Computers Hardware for Flexible SS7 and IN Solutions

Business Wire, Sept 29, 1997

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 1997--Trillium Digital Systems Inc., a leading provider of communications software solutions, Monday announced the release and shipment of its Integrated SS7 - Force/VME Platform source code software product.

Trillium's software integration with Force Computers' SPARC-based CPU-5V board will reduce customers' time-to-market in the rapidly expanding telecommunications industry. Trillium's software runs on the Force board and provides the ability to develop applications and services for wireless and wireline infrastructures.

Trillium President and CEO Jeff Lawrence said: "The combination of Trillium's Integrated SS7 protocol stack and Force's SPARC CPU-5V board offers our customers a reliable, high-performance integration of hardware and software. Trillium has already licensed this particular solution to a customer who is developing equipment for the rapidly expanding broadband infrastructure in Korea."

The Integrated SS7 Platform evolved from existing Trillium products. Trillium plans to announce support for additional Force platforms in the future.

"We are pleased with the integration of Trillium's SS7 protocol software stack with Force's highly successful SPARC CPU-5V board and look forward to working with Trillium in the future," said Chris Williams, vice president of marketing for Force Computers. "Applications within the Advanced Intelligent Network requiring high performance and reliable signaling, especially Intelligent Peripherals, will benefit from this powerful solution."

Trillium's Integrated SS7 - Force/VME Platform product has a sophisticated multiboard architecture with higher layer protocols, such as MTP Level 3 and ISUP, running directly on the Force CPU-5V board within a VME card system cage. The hardware for this platform is sold separately by Force Computers.

The Force SPARC CPU-5V is based on the VME bus standard, which is the leading open bus architecture for embedded systems. The SPARC CPU-5V is powered by a microSPARC-II processor and is 100 percent compatible with the Solaris Operating System. A single slot VME computer featuring full SPARCstation5 I/O and SBus functionality, this product is well suited to telecommunications environments with ruggedized field upgradeable mezzanine memory modules.
