Business Wire, Sept 29, 1997
SIOUX CITY, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 29, 1997--
Inclusion of latest version of Microsoft Web browser gives
Seanix customers seamless user interface and tools
for lowering cost of ownership
Seanix Technology today announced that beginning October 31, all Seanix desktop systems will ship with the latest version of Microsoft's Web browser, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 (IE 4.0) with Active Channel technology, further demonstrating Seanix's commitment to lowering the total cost of PC ownership for its customers.
"By pre-installing Microsoft IE 4.0, Seanix gives it customers valuable tools to help cut PC administrative and support costs, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership of the PC, which is one of our corporate missions," stated Paul Girard, Seanix CEO. "IE 4.0 fully integrates the desktop and web browser with one user interface for accessing all sources of information, whether on the PC's hard drive, the network, the corporate intranet or the Internet. This will reduce learning times and boost productivity, which are two major components to controlling computing ownership costs. The single, seamless user interface will also make computing and using the Internet easier, more efficient and more fun than ever before."
In addition to the single user interface, IE 4.0 gives Seanix home and institutional customers a variety of technologies and features. The new Internet client is replete with communication and collaboration tools, including Outlook Express e-mail, and industry standards-based Internet telephony and videoconferencing capabilities. It also ensures users can view the widest array of Internet content by offering support for the broadest range of Internet standards, including HTML 4.0, Dynamic HTML, Java, ActiveX and more.
For business use, the Internet Explorer Administrative Kit enables corporate administrators to fully customize, control and manage IE 4.0, easily providing networked organizations with the most optimized solution for a corporate Internet, intranet and extranet environments without the need to configure every desktop system -- also important in keeping computing costs down.
"We also make it easy for our customers to receive timely, interactive managed content directly to their desktops through IE 4.0's Active Channel support," stated Todd Osborn, Seanix president. "With all the new features and capabilities of IE 4.0, Seanix customers can harness the power and enjoy the lush content of the Internet while at the same time getting the information they need to be productive. It all adds up to an efficient, enhanced and enjoyable computing experience."
