Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air Announce Change to Travel Agency Commission Rate

Business Wire, Sept 30, 1997

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 1997--Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air today announced they will pay travel agents an 8 percent commission on all ticket sales beginning Oct. 1.

Airline officials cited a need to maintain a competitive cost structure in light of commission rate changes announced by other carriers.

Alaska and Horizon will continue, however, to remain no-cap carriers, paying agents the full 8 percent commission on all ticket sales. It will also continue to pay a 10 percent commission on sales of Alaska Airlines Vacations and Horizon Air Holidays travel packages.

Alaska Airlines and its sister carrier Horizon Air serve 77 cities in Alaska, Mexico, Canada, Russia and seven Western states.
