ADP and PeopleSoft Form Strategic Development and Marketing Alliance in Europe; Meeting Demand For New Payroll Functionality Across Europe; Clients Benefit From Deeper, Richer and Broader Pan-European Payroll Solutions and Services
Business Wire, Sept 8, 1997
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 1997--PeopleSoft Inc., a leading provider of enterprise application software, and ADP, the leading worldwide company for payroll and human resource services, today announced a strategic pan-European development and marketing alliance for the payroll and human resources market.
Both companies will work together to develop and market a new range of payroll software products for large and multinational enterprises.
ADP will continue to develop, market, and support its own range of products and services for its other markets and existing customers, while the alliance will enable the partners to provide solutions for the specific requirements of new markets.
ADP and PeopleSoft will jointly develop country-specific payroll solutions based on PeopleSoft's first version of its European Payroll application, enhanced by rich local functional modules from ADP. ADP's long-standing experience in the European payroll application, in conjunction with the PeopleTools application development environment, will make it possible to rapidly extend the functionality within PeopleSoft's European Payroll application to meet the requirements of each country. ADP's extensive European coverage provides customers with local, country-level implementation and support services.
The alliance will enable rapid deployment of a new generation of "euro-ready" payroll solutions, operating in multiple languages and currencies while conforming to local regulatory and statutory requirements.
These software products will be offered through a range of solutions from in-house implementations to outsourcing services, including multi-country shared service centers. PeopleSoft's global release of HRMS and the jointly developed European Payroll (Germany, France and UK), will be marketed by PeopleSoft, as well as by ADP in selected markets in Europe.
The scope of the alliance will enable ADP and PeopleSoft to address the needs of additional country markets in the future, including Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, and The Republic of Ireland.
"The effect of the drive towards a single currency has been to force whole economies into painful structural adjustments and to transform governments across Europe," said Gavin Adam, a partner in Price Waterhouse's management consulting practice and recognized expert in European human resource management trends.
"For many employers, particularly those involved in cross-border operations, management of workforce cost is an increasingly important issue. Payroll applications are having to become much more flexible as they deal with issues such as the increasingly diverse make-up of many work forces; the growth of flexible and total compensation approaches; and the requirement for increasingly sophisticated management information, query handling, and self-service functionality. To do this effectively in Europe, vendors will need to be able to combine extensive local market knowledge with sophisticated human resource management information handling."
"ADP, providing payslips to nine million European employees, is recognized as an expert in payroll, benefits and human resources, with services ranging from payroll processing to personnel department outsourcing to software implementation and support," said Howard Gwin, vice president and general manager, PeopleSoft Europe.
"PeopleSoft is recognized as the best in class provider of comprehensive, technically advanced and flexible human resource management, payroll, and ERP solutions. This mix of resources, coverage, payroll process knowledge, and technology will deliver the most extensive solution available within Europe."
"We will provide clients with deep local functionality fast," said Philippe Gluntz, president, ADP Europe. "This has to be one of the most complementary relationships in the industry, not just for PeopleSoft and ADP, but more importantly for our customers who will be able to reap the benefits of our combined competencies."
