TransEnergy Management's Real-Time Data Entry Is Key to Conoco's Decision to Select EMS System
Business Wire, Sept 9, 1997
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1997--TransEnergy Management Inc. today announced that it has licensed its Energy Marketing System (EMS) software to Conoco for its gas marketing functions. EMS manages the purchase, sale and transportation of natural gas and electricity on all transportation and transmission systems in North America.
According to TransEnergy Management Marketing vice president Dr. Gary M. Vasey, "Conoco shares our vision of the future direction of gas trading, particularly in the areas of gas control and scheduling. It was also important to Conoco that our system be compatible with GISB standards on nominations and confirmations, an enhancement we recently announced."
"EMS' GISB EDI capability should reduce overall transaction time and cost, which was a key advantage offered by TransEnergy's system," explained Bob Clark, Conoco's Gas Marketing Coordinator.
Clark said Conoco's search for a replacement for its in-house gas marketing system was extensive. "TransEnergy's EMS platform was more compatible with what we had so there were fewer technical issues, and we liked the ease of the system itself," Clark said. "We also like the philosophy of TransEnergy's navigation consortium which enables us to discuss design modifications with a consortium of users. We see system changes earlier than the general release and can get an idea of what the system should look like."
Conoco, the energy subsidiary of DuPont, is an integrated international petroleum company employing 15,500 people and operating in more than 30 countries around the world.
Since 1988, TransEnergy Management Inc. has set the industry standard for energy marketing software and related services with the TransEnergy Manager (TEM). TEM incorporates performance, usability and integration in a software suite that provides marketing, transportation and risk management of electricity, natural gas and other energy commodities. TransEnergy maintains offices in Houston and Calgary.
