Business Objects First Decision Support Tools Vendor to Pass Certification for PeopleSoft HR

Business Wire, Sept 9, 1997

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 9, 1997--Business Objects (NASDAQ:BOBJY), the world's leading provider of integrated enterprise decision support tools, today announced that it has received certification from PeopleSoft's Partner Integration Team on the integration between its leading decision support solution and PeopleSoft's HR module.

The certification was awarded to Business Objects' HR Rapid Deployment Template (RDT), provided to help customers quickly deploy the BusinessObjects environment on top of PeopleSoft. RDTs are a set of customizable BusinessObjects universes and sample reports. A universe is a collection of predefined classes and objects that map underlying data structures to business terms that are meaningful to end users such as "Department," "Average Salary," and "Number of Employees." The universes provided in the BusinessObjects HR RDT for PeopleSoft can be installed for immediate use or customized by IS to meet specific corporate requirements.

"BusinessObjects passed our certification tests with flying colors, and is the first decision support and OLAP vendor to do so," said Timm Hannula of the Partner Integration Team at PeopleSoft. "We are very impressed with their technology and the level of their integration."

"We are very pleased to have received the official certification on our solution from PeopleSoft," said Matthew Brunquell, worldwide partner alliance manager at Business Objects. "We're offering our mutual customers a strong solution for delivering decision support to end users of PeopleSoft's leading applications."

Customers using BusinessObjects to access information from PeopleSoft applications will be able to take advantage of key PeopleSoft features including effective dating and row-level security. Effective dating allows organization to plan for and track business change, and security provides control over data access. The integration of BusinessObjects with PeopleSoft gives organizations tremendous flexibility by eliminating the need for double maintenance of organizational structures within BusinessObjects and PeopleSoft applications, because PeopleSoft metadata can be automatically transferred into BusinessObjects.

In addition to support for PeopleSoft HR, Business Objects provides RDTs for General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Benefits, and Payroll. Business Objects is also building further integration with PeopleSoft using their recent 7.0 Open Query API technology.
