Northwest Pipe Co. Receives ISO Certification of its Portland, Ore. Facility

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 1998--Northwest Pipe Co. (NASDAQ:NWPX) announced today receipt of ISO 9002 certification of their Portland facility.
Formal notice was received following completion of an extensive audit of their quality program by ABS Quality Evaluations Inc., an internationally certified ISO quality audit firm based in Houston, a subsidiary of The American Bureau of Shipping.
"We are very pleased to receive this accreditation," said William R. Tagmyer, chief executive officer. "This is the first step in our plan to achieve ISO Certification for all of our facilities. We are proud to be the first ISO Certified full service steel water pipe manufacturer in the United States."
Northwest Pipe Co. manufactures and markets welded steel pipe in two business segments. Its Water Transmission Group is a leading supplier of large diameter, high pressure steel pipe products that are used primarily for water transmission in the United States and Canada. Its Tubular Products Group manufactures smaller diameter, electric resistance welded steel pipe for a wide range of construction, agricultural, energy, industrial and mechanical applications. The company is headquartered in Portland.
