Novell to Resell NetVision's Synchronicity Meta-Directory Product Line; Synchronicity Brings Multi-Vendor Directory Replication to Novell Directory Services
Business Wire, August 18, 1998
OREM, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 1998--NetVision Inc., a privately held company, Tuesday announced it signed an agreement to allow Novell(R) Inc. to resell Synchronicity(TM), NetVision's complete line of meta-directory products.
The agreement also stipulated that the two companies will collaborate on the development of future product offerings.
NetVision's Synchronicity products deliver meta-directory functionality to Novell Directory Services(TM) (NDS(TM)). Meta-directory services cross network and application environments, integrating existing directories into a large whole in terms of both management and access.
Synchronicity products not only provide organizations a single point of administration, thereby lowering network management and administration costs, but they also offer IS management the freedom to choose the appropriate network system to meet key IS objectives, such as selecting the optimum groupware product, database application, or application server platform.
Each Synchronicity product is built on NetVision's patented Global Event Services(TM) technology, which monitors, launches, and communicates network events on a global basis across an entire network.
"By adding meta-directory functionality to an existing directory, NetVision's products help customers integrate directories and build a stronger directory infrastructure," said Jamie Lewis, president of the Burton Group.
"The licensing arrangement between Novell and NetVision allows Novell to improve the integration and capabilities of NDS, which helps NetWare customers. It also broadens the market for NetVision's products, allowing the company to address a larger number of potential customers through Novell's existing sales channels."
Novell will resell the next generation of Synchronicity products, including Synchronicity for NT, Synchronicity for Notes, Synchronicity for Exchange, and Synchronicity for NetWare(R) 3, worldwide through Novell's dynamic distribution channel.
"We are pleased that Novell has partnered with us to distribute our NDS based meta-directory solutions," said Todd Lawson, president of NetVision, "and we are committed to pioneering multi-vendor directory integration solutions in order to make the directory the core of the business computing environment. "
