Legato Systems and Data General Expand Their Worldwide OEM Agreement; Data General to Bundle and Resell Legato's Entire Line of Legato NetWorker for Windows NT Solutions

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24e and resell the Legato NetWorker for Windows NT product line with their key storage hardware.

Since 1992, Data General has been marketing Legato NetWorker under the brand name AViiON NetWorker for AViiON. All DG/UX systems shipped by Data General are "Legato NetWorker-ready," and fully interoperate with all other versions of Legato NetWorker. Data General offers this storage management solution through their direct sales force and international distributors.

Legato NetWorker for Windows NT is a leading storage management solution for the protection of Windows NT-based file/print, database, and application servers, and their networked clients. Legato NetWorker sets the standard for business-critical data protection by providing storage management, including backup, recovery, archive, and automated disaster recovery for networks of all sizes. Legato NetWorker provides a high-level of integration with Microsoft BackOffice, and includes optional add-on Legato NetWorker BusinesSuite modules for online backup/restore of Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange Server, Oracle, Informix, and SAP R/3 on Oracle.
Data General is one of 24 OEM relationships Legato has announced since the founding of the Company in 1988. OEMs license source code from Legato and port the software to the OEM's respective operating system and hardware platform. The resultant Legato NetWorker-based product is marketed, sold, and supported by the OEM as their own storage management software product.
