Microtest Phoenix Operation Receives ISO 9001 Certification; Microtest Successfully Completes Audits of Its Quality Management System

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1998--Microtest Inc. (NASDAQ: MTST) today announced that its Phoenix, Arizona headquarters operation has joined more than 300 Arizona companies who have met the quality assurance standards for International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification.
The ISO 9001 certification further strengthens Microtest's position of industry leadership in the design, manufacture and distribution of computer network products.
To achieve ISO certification, Microtest's headquarters underwent a lengthy training and review process of its operational procedures that culminated with required third-party quality audits performed by International Certifications Ltd (ICL). Microtest's certification was granted by ICL upon successful completion of the audits.
According to Richard G. Meise, Microtest's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, the ISO 9001 certification process has yielded significant benefits to the organization and is "the driving force behind Microtest's pursuit of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction."
"As the quality management system implementation progressed, employees at all levels of the organization came to realize a greater sense of customer focus and commitment," said Meise. "As they became involved with the auditing activities, they developed an even greater appreciation of the value an effective quality management system provides, not only to our customers, but to ourselves as well."
ISO is a worldwide federation of national standards from more than 100 countries with a mission to promote international standardization for exchange of goods and services. The ISO 9000 series of standards for quality management and quality assurance has been adopted in more than 90 countries where it is being implemented by thousands of manufacturing and service organizations, including more than 20,000 in the U.S.
In order to ensure quality standards on a global basis, Meise said that Microtest will move forward with pursuit of certification for its Nashua, New Hampshire; Crawley, U.K., and Munich, Germany operations.
