Actioneer Inc. Ships Actioneer for Palm Desktop
Business Wire, August 25, 1998
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 1998--Actioneer Inc. today announced the release of Actioneer for Palm(TM) Desktop, the latest product in its growing line of personal-productivity tools.
Actioneer allows computer users to quickly capture important information directly into Palm Desktop. Customers can quickly and easily capture action items from a variety of on-screen sources -- e-mail, web browsers, chat rooms, instant messaging clients, documents and have Actioneer automatically store them in the appropriate location in their organizer. These action items can then be migrated to the Palm Connected Organizer at the customer's next HotSync(R).
"Actioneer Inc. continues to be an important contributor to the ongoing success of the Palm Computing platform," said Mark Bercow, vice president of strategic alliances and platform development for Palm Computing, a 3Com company. "With Actioneer for Palm Desktop, Actioneer is delivering great new data-synchronization options that increase both the value and the functionality of our products."
While the portability of the Palm connected organizer is one of its main attractions, many Palm customers still rely on their desktop environments when they are at home or in their office. Actioneer allows customers to capture important information from their desktops, organize it, and then migrate it to their handheld device.
For example, an Actioneer customer can capture an action item in her boss' email -- "prepare the budget by Friday for the 2pm meeting" -- by highlighting that text and entering a simple hotkey, and Actioneer will update her To Do List and Date Book. She can delete or archive the original message, and when she synchronizes her data, the information will show up on her handheld organizer.
"Actioneer is creating solutions for busy people to manage the often overwhelming deluge of information they face on a daily basis," said David Yachnin, vice president of sales and marketing.
Nothing need slip through the cracks as customers now have a simple and effective way to capture and automatically organize their important information. In effect we've bridged the gap between organizers and the electronic messaging world which causes so much of the "interaction overload" and resulting stress.
Actioneer for Palm Desktop is now available for $29.95 from the Actioneer web site, http://www.actioneer.com/APD. Customers can download a free, fully functional, 30-day trial version. The download also includes, free, Actioneer for the Palm Computing Platform, version 1.1.
Actioneer Inc. is focused on providing software-based solutions for the growing problem of interaction overload -- too many interruptions, messages and e-mails. Its Actioneer software products address these concerns by providing customers with the ability to easily capture, organize and distribute action items to their electronic organizers.
The company has been chosen for the Computerworld 100 Hot Emerging Companies List and by Howard Anderson for Upside Magazine's Up-and-Coming Companies List. The company was founded in 1994 and is located in San Francisco.
