PeopleSoft Forges Strategic Alliances with Siebel and Vantive; Preferred Partnerships Link Sales Force Automation and Customer Service Solutions with PeopleSoft

PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 1998--PeopleSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:PSFT), a leading provider of enterprise application solutions, today announced a sales force automation and customer service integration strategy based on partnerships with best-of-breed application providers. Launching this initiative, PeopleSoft signed agreements with Siebel Systems, Inc. and The Vantive Corporation, the world's leading front-office software vendors, to integrate their sales force automation, marketing automation, customer service and field service applications with PeopleSoft's enterprise software.
Both Siebel and Vantive solutions will complement PeopleSoft's existing customer-focused modules, such as Remote Order Entry, Product Configurator, Order Management, Order Promising, and Demand Planning, as well as integrating to PeopleSoft's enterprise application suite. The combined solutions will create a seamless flow of crucial customer information throughout a company's sales and service units andits business operations. The partners plan to deliver their integrated solutions with PeopleSoft in the first half of 1999.
Preferred Partnerships with Siebel and Vantive
Today's agreements extend PeopleSoft's strategy to offer flexible, high performance solutions through technology and company acquisitions, functional technology development and strategic partnerships. As preferred partners, Siebel and Vantive will work with PeopleSoft to define, prioritize, develop, and package integrated business processes. PeopleSoft and its partners will deliver integrated solutions across key industries such as financial services, utilities, communications, and manufacturing on a global basis. The companies will also provide joint technical support to customers, and are in the process of developing marketing and sales initiatives.

Combined with Siebel's and Vantive's applications, PeopleSoft's solutions will help companies generate more sales and offer higher levels of customer service. For example, integrating PeopleSoft's Remote Order Entry or Order Management modules with a sales force automation application will enable sales representatives to manage sales leads and quotes, as well as generate and monitor orders in real-time. Customer service representatives will be able to provide customers with quick, accurate updates with immediate access to both customer support applications and billing and order information kept in PeopleSoft. Companies will also be able synchronize key customer and product information from either the front- or back-office.

PeopleSoft's partnerships with software providers such as Siebel and Vantive are managed by PeopleSoft's Software Alliances organization.
