Trend Micro's Internet Anti-Virus Solutions Selected for Inclusion in HP Covision Program

CUPERTINO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1998--Trend Micro Inc., the leader in centrally managed virus protection, today announced an alliance with Hewlett-Packard Company to provide virus protection solutions to HP's worldwide Covision program. With this announcement, Trend Micro becomes the first anti-virus vendor included in the Covision program.
HP Covision is an Internet solutions program that provides customers with the best Internet technology through a hand-picked portfolio of leading Internet application vendors. Customized Covision solutions use partner-provided Internet applications and the appropriate HP products to make it easy for channel partners to provide customers with Internet products and services to meet their individual business needs. HP Covision partners are evaluated based on their products' compatibility with HP computer systems and technology, and a sales-channel strategy that complements HP's.

As an HP Covision application partner, Trend Micro will make available its entire line of integrated virus protection software designed to cover every access point--Internet gateways, groupware and intranet servers, LAN servers and corporate desktops. All of Trend Micro's products operate across a range of platforms, including Windows NT and HP-UX(1). Products to be made available include: -0-
-- InterScan VirusWall--scans Internet traffic (SMPT e-mail, HTTP,
FTP) for viruses and other malicious code. The integrated
eManager component provides spam mail blocking, content
filtering and bandwidth management tools
-- ScanMail--maintains virus-free HP OpenMail, Microsoft Exchange,
Lotus Notes, Microsoft Mail and cc:Mail
-- ServerProtect--protects NT servers and attached workstations
-- OfficeScan--protects and manages corporate desktops from a
central server
-- Trend Virus Control System (VCS)--deploys, updates and manages
Trend Micro's server-based anti-virus products regardless of
platform or physical location through a central Web-based
management console

This announcement further extends Trend Micro's close relationship with HP. Also announced today by Trend Micro was an agreement with HP to resell its products and services through HP's North American Local Products Organization (LPO). In addition, Trend Micro released in April, 1998, ScanMail for OpenMail, the first and only virus protection software for the 5.4 million-plus users of HP's OpenMail messaging platform. Trend Micro also intends to become an HP OpenView Premier Partner and is currently working on integrating its Trend Virus Control System with the HP OpenView Network Node Manager and HP OpenView IT/Operations products.
Other Covision partners include BackWeb Technologies, Check Point Software, Freegate, Lucent Technology, NetObjects, UUNet, USWeb Corporation, Wall Data and Whistle Communications.
