ICTV Signs Contract With St. Joseph Cablevision; Internet Access Over Television Will Be Available To 25,000 Homes

LOS GATOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 4, 1998--ICTV, the company that provided the first commercial Internet and multimedia access through cable-connected television sets, Tuesday announced a five-year contract with St. Joseph Cablevision to provide interactive television services to 25,000 potential subscribers in the St. Joseph, Mo. serving area.
Initial roll-out of the ICTV system is expected in the fourth quarter 1998.

St. Joseph Cablevision customers with addressable boxes will be offered a full service package, which includes 5 hours of Internet access (Web browsing and E-mail) for $9.99. Cable customers without addressable boxes can subscribe to a family value package for $5.99 for three hours of access. Additional usage for both packages will cost $1.99 per hour during peak hours and $0.99 during off-peak hours.
As part of the contract, ICTV will provide equipment and will share revenues with St. Joseph Cablevision. Full financial details were not disclosed.
St. Joseph Cablevision is a newly rebuilt, state of the art cable system offering impulse pay per view, premium multiplexed packages and now Internet, e-mail and CD-ROM games. St. Joseph Cablevision is the largest system of News-Press & Gazette, a progressive thinking, multi-system operator whose home office is also in St. Joseph. St. Joseph is located an hour north of Kansas City on the Missouri River.
