IC WORKS Introduces Single Chip FTG Solution for the Intel 440ZX; AGPset Targeted for the Basic PC Market Segment
Business Wire, Dec 15, 1998
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 1998--IC WORKS Inc., a leading manufacturer of frequency timing generators (FTG), today introduced a family of single chip solutions for the Intel(R) 440ZX AGPset.
The new solutions, which are now available in volume, are targeted for Basic PC platforms and conform to Intel CK97 jitter specification.
The 440ZX solutions eliminate the need for a separate FTG and buffer by combining the two into a single device. The single chip solution leverages IC WORKS' Spread Spectrum Technology, which offers customers, maximized flexibility while maintaining best-in-class Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) suppression.
"As the first to announce single chip FTG solutions for Intel Celeron(TM) processors, our customers immediately benefit from our relationship with Intel," said Paul Cheng, product marketing manager at IC WORKS. "With IC WORKS' proprietary spread spectrum implementation, our single chip FTG can reduce EMI by as much as 10 decibels.
"This reduction in EMI can shorten our customers' time-to-market. It also reduces overall system costs as manufacturers can eliminate costly EMI measures and use more loosely specified chassis and power supplies."
The W144 and W150 FTG provide sixteen selectable frequencies and support frequencies up to 150 megahertz, while the W149 FTG provides eight selectable frequencies and supports frequencies up to 124 MHz. All of these devices have an integrated clock buffer to support SDRAM DIMM modules. Spread spectrum and power management features are controlled via an I2C interface.
The introduction of this single chip solution completes IC WORKS' FTG line-up for the Basic PC market segment. IC WORKS' product offerings fit the needs of all types of Basic PC systems. For Socket 7 systems, customers can use IC WORKS' W156 to support the MVP4 chipset from VIA Technology and the W153B to support the SiS530 chipset from System Integrated Solution.
For Intel's 440ZX AGPset and other low cost Pentium(R) II solutions, customers can use the W144, W149 or W150 single chip FTG solutions. By using this chip, customers can design their systems with the lowest cost FTG configuration and still benefit from EMI suppression that exceeds the specifications put forth by the Federal Communications Commission.
IC WORKS' 440ZX FTG solutions, the W144, W149, W150, are available now in quantities of 10,000 and range in price from $2.65 to $2.90. For additional information, please visit the IC WORKS Web site at http://www.icworks.com.
