for E-Commerce, Brokerage and Financial-service Applications

Hewlett-Packard Company and Rainbow Technologies, Inc. today announced an OEM purchase agreement to resell private-label versions of Rainbow's CryptoSwift line of secure-server cryptographic accelerators with HP 9000 Enterprise Servers.

CryptoSwift accelerators are the world's fastest cryptographic co-processors, capable of performing a reference RSA signature in 5 milliseconds.

"We are extremely pleased with the OEM agreement between Rainbow and HP," said Peter Craig, vice chairman of Rainbow. "Our expertise in developing high-performance cryptographic engines complements the performance of HP's secure Web server, and enables our customers to achieve higher cryptographic performance at a dramatically lower cost than before."

Rainbow's CryptoSwift products are widely deployed in Internet applications, including e-commerce, brokerage, financial services, education and other markets in which high-performance secure Web servers are required. In addition, CryptoSwift cryptographic hardware solutions support RSA cryptography.

"Together, HP and Rainbow provide superior cryptographic solutions to our customers conducting business on the Internet," said Nigel Ball, general manager of HP's Internet and Application Systems Division. "Our combined technologies will offer customers running SSL and SET secure e-commerce applications high performance for their secure Web servers."
