Sylvester and Tweety Stir Up `TWOUBLE' at Retail; Classic Warner Bros. Duo Brings Antic-Filled Action to Game Boy Color in Time for the Holidays

Business Wire, Dec 18, 1998

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 18, 1998--Sylvester and Tweety are at it again. The hilarious pair are taking their never-ending chase into major retail outlets across the country Friday in the Looney Tunes-inspired game "TWOUBLE," from Infogrames Entertainment.

Now the hysterical pranks of the fun-loving cat and bird team can be enjoyed by all on Nintendo's hit new game system Game Boy Color. Infogrames' cartoon-inspired title is the first of the company's "Games for the Next Mil-Looney-Um," an advanced, immersive series for all ages based on Warner Bros.' famous Looney Tunes characters.

"Infogrames has reproduced a classic Warner Bros. cartoon within an adventure-filled video game," said Rob Sebastian, director interactive entertainment, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "We think Looney Tunes fans will jump at the chance to interact with their favorite characters."

As Sylvester, the mischievious-but-loveable cat with a never-ending appetite, players engage in an elusive game of hunt and chase. The title combines fast-action side-scrolling gameplay with labyrinth-style isometric screens. Hungry felines must evade Granny, Tasmanian Devil, Marvin the Martian and other enemies in pursuit of the little, yellow canary.

One of the first non-Nintendo titles released for the company's new Game Boy Color, "TWOUBLE" displays an impressive array of colors, 56 in all, the maximum allowable on the unit. The title is also compatible with the more than 60 million estimated original black-and-white GameBoys worldwide.

In collaboration with Warner Bros., Infogrames plans to release six "Games for the Next Mil-Looney-Um" throughout 1999. The line will include titles for the Nintendo Game Boy Color, N64 and Sony PlayStation platforms, and will bring back most of the studio's ever-popular cartoon stars.

"We plan to utilize nearly all of the timeless cartoon stars in high-quality games that capture the individual personalities of the classic characters," said Mike Markey, vice president, sales and marketing, Infogrames Entertainment. "`TWOUBLE,' the first in what we hope will be a huge series, allowing everyone -- young and old -- to enjoy the comical antics of Sylvester and Tweety.

"The games will feature the same madcap humor we've all grown to love -- anytime, anywhere."

"TWOUBLE" is now available at retail outlets nationwide including, but not limited to, Toys 'R' Us, Electronics Boutique, Babbages, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, Kmart, Sears and Montgomery Wards at an estimated retail price of $29.95
