Allan Horlick Appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of NewsNet Central

Former CNBC Europe President and Managing Director Tapped to

Leverage Convergence of Broadcast Television and Internet

NewsNet Central, a producer and distributor of branded television programming, Wednesday announced that Allan Horlick has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective Jan. 5, 1999.

As previously announced on Oct. 22, 1998, NewsNet Central is acquiring the assets of the television broadcast division of Preview Travel Inc. (Nasdaq:PTVL). The company, which is poised to leverage the convergence of broadcast and the Internet, plans to produce and/or distribute consumer-oriented television programming for a number of companies including Intuit, Preview Travel, C/NET and HealthCentral.

Prior to joining NewsNet Central, Horlick was President and Managing Director of CNBC Europe, where he oversaw day-to-day operations, development, sales, programming and marketing for CNBC Europe. From 1987 to 1991, Horlick worked for NBC's owned and operated television station WRC-TV in Washington, D.C., as Vice President and General Manager, rising to President and General Manager in 1991. During that time, News 4 grew to become the No. 1 news source among viewers in the Washington area. In addition, WRC-TV gained a national reputation for its "Working 4 You" brand, which has been emulated by television stations across the country. In addition to his duties as President of WRC-TV, in 1995 he served as Director of Launch Operations for the creation of CNBC Asia based in Hong Kong, and provided similar assistance in 1996 for the launch of NBC Asia.

Prior to his tenure at WRC, he served for three years as Station Manager of WMAQ-TV, NBC's owned and operated station in Chicago. From 1979 to 1984, Horlick was first manager, then Director of Sales at WRC-TV. Between 1974 and 1979, he worked for NBC Spot Sales in Chicago and New York.
