HP Eases Color Adoption in the Office With Hands-On Training Course; HP's "Building Colorful Documents in MS Word" Seminar Offers Practical Desktop Applications Training

Business Wire, Dec 21, 1998

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 21, 1998--To further assist customers in using color as a competitive business tool, Hewlett-Packard Company today introduced training classes on designing color documents in Microsoft(R) Word.

The HP-developed course, "Building Colorful Documents in MS Word," provides in-depth training on the creation of effective color business documents.

"HP's color classes are just another example of our focus on developing a complete set of end-to-end solutions for our customers," said George Mulhern, general manager of HP's Workgroup Color LaserJet Division. "HP is not only dedicated to providing leading printing products for our customers, but to meeting our customers' entire set of needs from concept to completion of a document."

The MS Word training course provides participants with step-by-step instruction on color and the design process for creating compelling, colorful documents. The classes cover the following topics: -0-

-- Using Color -- information on how color can improve business
     documents;

-- Building the Document Model -- design elements such as page
     structure, content elements and finishing touches;

-- References and Tools -- further assistance in helping attendees
     start using color immediately.

"Many of our customers recognize that color gives business documents a competitive advantage -- making their communications more persuasive, compelling and memorable -- but they don't know how to design these color documents," said Mulhern. "Our goal for these courses is to have every attendee leave the class and immediately sit down at the PC and start using color more effectively in Microsoft Word."

The "Building Colorful Documents in MS Word" courses are offered through TriTech Educational Services, and customers can sign up by calling 1-800-600-3353. TriTech also is available to conduct the course on site.

Increasing Color Productivity

The new class is part of HP's strategy to accelerate color adoption in corporate America. HP also has added a color-printing education center to its new HP Color Laser Family Web site, located at http://www.hp.com/printers/clj8500/family.html. The site provides customers with a variety of resources to help them maximize color-printer use.

Additionally, a free HP Color Productivity Kit CD-ROM is available. Customers can obtain a copy by calling 1-800-LASERJET and requesting a Printer Fulfillment Kit for either the HP Color LaserJet 4500 printer or for the HP Color LaserJet 8500 printer. Each kit contains a wealth of information regarding designing, printing, finishing and binding important business documents. It also includes helpful articles, valuable software and several helpful Internet resources. Furthermore, the CD is designed to be shared on company intranets.

HP Leadership in Color

With the recent introduction of the advanced HP LaserJet 4500 and HP Color LaserJet 8500 printers, HP continues to strengthen its leadership position in color printing.

The company, which plans to make color printing in the office so pervasive that it will be more noticeable by its absence than its presence, offers the industry's broadest array of office color solutions. In addition to the broad line of advanced color printers, HP also offers a full range of color products such as scanners, digital senders, copiers, all-in-one devices, digital cameras and the networking technology that allows these devices to work together quickly and easily.
