Register.com has rocketed to the top, claiming the lead in only a matter of months, after launching the service in February of this year.
"We are elated by this latest news," said Richard Forman, President and CEO of register.com. "Within eight months, register.com has paved the way towards creating a niche portal for small and medium sized businesses that want to get started on the Internet."
One of example of this comes from customer Richard Keel, a typical register.com user. "I'm a small time web designer who does this (domain registration) as part of my tech support for real estate professionals. Your service is so easy to use and is a real asset to the services I provide."
"Register.com has become the leading domain registration brand on the Internet," stated Sascha Mornell, Director of Marketing and Online Services at register.com. "We would like to thank the tens of thousands of customers who have used and recommended the register.com service."
Register.com currently offers customers the ability to register domain names with a wide array of top level domains (TLD) extensions, including recent additions .AC and .SH. Register.com's partners include GeoCities (Nasdaq: GCTY), theglobe.com (Nasdaq: TGLO), the Infoseek Corporation (Nasdaq: SEEK), Thomson and Thomson and Spree.com.
