Business Wire, Dec 28, 1998

YAHUD, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 28, 1998--Magal Security Systems Ltd. (NASDAQ:MAGSF) announced today that the Israeli Ministry of Defense (MOD) notified the company that it was the successful bidder for an award of more than US$2 million for a new perimeter security system designed to protect Israel's borders against intrusion and terrorist attack. The order will be delivered during 1999.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have been testing Magal's new perimeter security system and others for over two years. In evaluating the competitive systems, consideration was given to not only price, but also the technology and performance of the system. Only one other system passed the tests. Management believes that Magal's perimeter security system was selected because the technology and performance were greatly superior to the competition.

Mr. Kobi Even-Ezra, chairman of Magal, stated, "We are extremely pleased that Magal's new perimeter security system was selected by the Israeli MOD for this vital national goal -- securing Israel's borders. Our perimeter system's combination of cost, technology and performance far exceeded the competition, further verification that Magal is the world leader in perimeter security system technology."
