Science Dynamics Broadens Video Over Frame Relay Product Line With System Targeted to ISDN Users

Business Wire, Dec 7, 1998

CHERRY HILL, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1998--Science Dynamics Corp. (Nasdaq:SIDY), a leading developer and supplier of advanced telecommunications products and applications, Monday announced that it is broadening the product range of its successful video over frame relay series with the introduction of the VFX-240S video over frame relay targeted specifically to the 128 Kbps ISDN user.

Like the VFX-250S series introduced in late 1997, the VFX-240S will enable error-free, two-way live videoconferencing to take place over standard frame relay networks. The VFX-240S is designed to operate over standard frame relay networks at ISDN speeds from 56 Kbps to 128 Kbps.

"We have been very pleased with the market response to our VFX-250S series," said Alan C. Bashforth, Science Dynamics' president. "Since its introduction, we have sold VFX products to resellers such as: ABL, Enterprise Networking Systems, General Electric Spacenet, Hercules Data Comm.Co Ltd., Hypercom Network Systems, Incoma Ltd., Prosser Scientific Instruments and direct users including the U.S. Air Force and the University of Hawaii.

"We have obtained contracts with Act Networks and Memotec Communications and are presently negotiating several additional contracts. Market awareness of our VFX products is also increasing, due in part to a recent test of videoconferencing systems by Network Computing Magazine. Network Computing awarded its Editor's choice award to Memotec's CX900e frame relay system in conjunction with our VFX-250S FRAD," he continued.

"We expect the addition of the VFX-240S to allow us to increase market penetration of our VFX products to both OEMs and direct users."

Science Dynamics, with headquarters in Cherry Hill, is a developer of an array of telecommunications solutions. Products include: the Commander Inmate Control phone system (based on the IntegratorC-2000 platform), including an NT software release, frame relay products such as the VFX-250C and VFX-250S designed to interface with existing FRADs (Frame Relay Access Devices) and videoconferencing Codec Systems and Voice over Internet protocol (VoIP).

Currently in development are new service modules for the IntegratorC-2300 VoIP family of products. The SS7 Interface will allow an Integrator Gateway to connect to Carrier networks as an End Office Gateway. The H.323 Interface, which has been inaugurated into the platform, allows interoperability between Gateways of various vendors as well as desktop clients such as Microsoft NetMeeting.

Additional products in development are the AdminManager II, a totally new graphical user interface for the Commander II Windows NT Inmate Phone Control System. This new AdminManager will provide enhanced capabilities as well as exploit the real-time features of the Commander II system. Another product in development is the CIMS II, a new Windows NT based system for polling and administration of Voice Response Intercept systems.
