Business Wire, Dec 7, 1998
STONY BROOK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1998--
QRT Joins CA's Development Partner Program
Quantum Research and Technologies today announced plans to integrate its award-winning QR-BookMark electronic document management software (EDMS) with Ingres II, Computer Associates International, Inc.'s (CA) distinguished relational database management system. Quantum has also joined CA's Ingres II Development Partner Program.
By integrating Quantum Research's document management, imaging and workflow suite of software to interact directly with the Ingres II database, CA clients will gain access to a robust, scalable and easy-to-use solution for managing multiple types of data and images.
"The integration of Quantum Research with Ingres II brings a powerful document management solution to the fast growing paperless office and workflow market," said Brian Shemilt, vice president of development partner programs at CA. "We are pleased to have Quantum Research join the Ingres II solutions family."
Eugene Sayan, President and CEO of Quantum Research said, "This partnership provides our mutual clients with a state-of-the-art, highly scalable document management software that easily integrates with any other application. Quantum is pleased to work with a global leader in the relational database market to provide clients with optimal solutions to their business needs."
The partnership coincides with the recent release of the newest version of QR-BookMark, the software suite Quantum Research designed following an object-oriented model, instead of building it on an older, proprietary software design, the model most of its competitors use. Quantum Research has been refining the software since the company was founded four years ago.
Ingres II is a complete solution for n-tiered relational application development and information management. Integrated with a proven industrial-strength RDBMS, Ingres II provides a full suite of options enabling read/write enterprise access to existing data, remote access and replication, Internet commerce capabilities and the graphical application development environment of OpenROAD. Available in Workgroup and Enterprise Editions, Ingres II offers unique, scalable solutions across a variety of platforms. Ingres II is an integral part of Computer Associates' Harmony strategy, a comprehensive information infrastructure that allows organizations to exploit new technologies while integrating existing applications and data sources.
The QR-BookMark software suite, which has an interface similar to that of Microsoft Outlook, enables users to launch any application from within the suite, instead of forcing them to open programs from their desktops. As a result, users can store, retrieve and process information ranging from PC documents to spreadsheets and multimedia files within QR-BookMark's various editions which is designed to accommodate from one to thousands of users.
The QR-BookMark Workgroup Edition, for use by departmental workgroups, utilizes Windows 95/98 or NT Workstation for its client software, and Windows NT Server on an Intel Pentium100 MHz or faster machine for its server software. The QR-BookMark Enterprise Edition supports standard 32-bit UNIX operating systems, as well as Symmetrical Multi Processing on the IBM RS/6000 M70, using a 64-bit version of QR-BookMark. It is deployed when support for true enterprise-wide knowledge management and data warehousing IT operational capabilities are required. In addition to its intranet communications, QR-BookMark is fully Internet enabled.
The Enterprise Edition of QR-BookMark currently supports more than 100 million documents online and more than 2 terabytes of data at several Fortune 500 company sites. Those companies are adding 60,000 new documents each day, and can gain access to documents in less than 10 seconds. Using a wide variety of monitoring, administrative and auditing tools, QR-BookMark helps companies measure their cost of operations and control the flow of information.
Quantum Research and Technologies, Inc. offers the most scalable, robust and the only 64-bit enterprise-wide EDMS software suite commercially available. Located in the Long Island High Technology Incubator of the State University of New York-Stony Brook, Quantum Research seeks to guide businesses toward creating the paperless office of the new millennium.
