Magic Software Enterprises Receives ISO 9001 Certification

Business Wire, Dec 7, 1998

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1998--Magic Software Enterprises Inc. (NASDAQ:MGICF) Monday announced that it has received ISO 9001 certification for the design, development and production of software tools used for application development and deployment.

The certification, which also extends to Magic's maintenance and technical support services, as well as its sales and distribution of software, underscores Magic's commitment to providing the highest quality products and services to its customers around the world.

ISO 9001 Certification

The widely sought after ISO 9001 certification is the most rigorous set of international standards for quality management and quality assurance established by the Geneva-based International Organization for Standardization, which represents the interests of approximately 130 countries worldwide. In order to receive certification, companies must satisfy more than 20 criteria in each of several business practice areas including management responsibility, contract review, design and development, production, service and training.

According to Jack Dunietz, chief executive officer of Magic, Magic's ISO 9001 certification represents yet another important milestone in the company's efforts to deliver and service the most productive application development tool on the market.

"The certification, awarded by the Standards Institution of Israel, is the result of several months of stringent internal audits performed by dedicated Magic employees to ensure that the company's software design, development, testing and customer support processes and procedures conform to the highest quality levels possible," he said. "It means we have met or exceeded all industry benchmarks for excellence, and provides strong evidence of Magic's commitment to product leadership."

Recently, Magic was selected as the top application development tool by the more than 85,000 subscribers of DBMS magazine, which targets CIOs, IS and database managers, developers, systems analysts and technical specialists. Magic also recently instituted a new online support system for Magic users in the United States and Canada, which provides customers the ability to instantaneously enter, confirm and track support requests via the Internet.

"Because our products are sold internationally and are used in a variety of business critical applications, we believed it was imperative that we obtain this certification," added Dunietz. "At Magic, our primary objective is to consistently deliver to our customers the kinds of products and services that will enable them to productively utilize their resources to achieve and maintain a competitive edge."
