KL Group JProbe Profiler for Sun Solaris Improves Performance and Efficiency of Java Applications
Business Wire, Dec 8, 1998
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1998--KL Group Inc., a leading provider of Java components and advanced development tools announced today that its JProbe Profiler is being released for the Sun Solaris' operating environment.
JProbe is an award-winning profiling tool for Java application development and well known for helping developers identify performance bottlenecks and code inefficiencies. The first profiling tool available for the Solaris operating environment, JProbe enables both time and memory profiling with an intuitive call graph interface. Developers will be able to use JProbe Profiler to improve the performance of applications written for Solaris using the Java(TM) Development Kit (JDK(TM)) 1.1 and 1.2 software.
"The collaboration with KL Group confirms Sun's continued commitment to provide developers worldwide with leading edge, powerful application development tools for the Solaris platform," said Reed Hornberger, director of computer systems market development at Sun Microsystems. "The availability of JProbe Profiler for Solaris addresses the growing need of enterprise software developers to profile Java applications on the industry's most robust and scalable enterprise network computing platform."
Unlike sampling profilers, JProbe leverages the Java Virtual Machine(TM) (JVM) to capture all object creation and any method call performed by the Java code being profiled. This enables the profiler to report application performance on a line-by-line basis, thus speeding the process of performance tuning. JProbe's profiling accuracy combined with advanced graphical-based analysis tools make it the most powerful and easy-to-use Java performance profiling and exploration tool.
"JProbe Profiler on the Solaris platform delivers a whole new level of performance and effectiveness, furthering the goals of the enterprise software development community," said Ed Lycklama, co-founder and CTO of KL Group. "We're pleased to join efforts with Sun to deliver powerful solutions to the rapidly-growing community of developers writing mission-critical Java applications using the Solaris operating environment."
Benefits of Java Profiling
By using JProbe Profiler, Java developers can save many hours of "trial and error" debugging as they go through the final and often critical stages of developing an application.
With JProbe Profiler, developers can: -0-
-- Discover Java performance bottlenecks in minutes
-- Eliminate performance-tuning guesswork
-- Explore Java run-time performance in real-time.
JProbe Profiler 2.0 Features
-- Time and memory profiling on either a per-method or per-line
basis
-- Memory usage as a program runs
-- Advanced call-graph interface for powerful analysis
-- Heap Reference Graph helps find and eliminate memory leaks
-- Enterprise version enables remote profiling of server-based
applications
-- Multi-platform support on Windows and Solaris in JDK 1.1, 1.2 and
JITs
