Xircom Signs License Agreement with Ericsson; Companies Partner to Provide Wireless Data Communications Solutions for Mobile Users

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 1998--Xircom, Inc. (Nasdaq:XIRC), the world leader in connectivity solutions for mobile computing professionals, today announced an agreement to license the Ericsson GSM data interface allowing wireless notebook communications for GSM900/DCS 1800 and PCS 1900 networks via Xircom's GSM Connection Kits.
This license will enable Xircom GlobalACCESS(tm) PC Cards and RealPort(tm) Integrated PC Cards to interface with Ericsson GSM handsets.

Product Availability
Xircom will be shipping "Ericsson Approved" GSM Connection Kits for GSM900/DCS 1800 and PCS 1900 networks in the first quarter of 1999. Initial handset support for the GlobalACCESS Ethernet Modem and modem-only PC Cards and RealPort Integrated PC Cards will include the leading Ericsson 688, 788 and 888 models.
