DNAI 1st to Offer DSL Through Both Covad and PacBell; More DSL Products, Greater Coverage
Business Wire, Feb 19, 1998
BERKELEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 19, 1998--DNAI, the top-rated Internet Service Provider, announces the addition of DSL service though Covad Communications Company. Available immediately, service through Covad will add to the variety of DSL products and service areas offered by Direct Network Access in Northern California. DNAI was the leading provider to offer DSL, when connections via Pacific Bell became available in December 1997. DNAI is currently the only ISP giving DSL clients the option of choosing either of the two available carriers, Covad or Pacific Bell.
DSL is a revolutionary service enabling speeds up to 1.5Mbps over existing copper twisted pair telephone lines. DNAI's DSL service meets customer demand for greater bandwidth at reasonable prices. Users will enjoy access speeds comparable to a T-1 line at prices closer to ISDN. The monthly charges range from $150 to $395 and include phone company charges. DNAI is one of a few ISP's providing a complete DSL package -- enabling users to run a Web, e-mail or other server on their LAN.
With the addition of Covad, DNAI increases its variety of DSL services. Options include: 144Kbps, 384Kbps, 1.1Mbps and asymmetrical 1.5Mbps/384Kbps (1.5M into the computer or network).
DNAI's offers DSL service in more Northern California areas than any other ISP. Covad serves a number of Bay Area communities outside of the current PacBell service area. In addition, the 144K service can reach customers more three miles from the carrier's Central Office (CO). The higher speed services are only available within the three mile radius.
The incredible speed of DSL greatly increases the utility of the Internet by giving faster downloads of graphics-intensive web pages and allowing the use of high-bandwidth technologies. Small to medium-sized businesses and those with home offices will benefit from having high bandwidth to access the Internet and/or hosting a web site.
Remarkable bandwidth is just one of the many advantages of DNAI's DSL service. With DSL the Internet connection is continuous -- all the speed, all the time. With a constant Internet link, DSL eliminates time spent waiting for call set-up and busy signals.
DNAI's DSL service will expand to neighboring communities in the Bay Area in early 1998. Service is expected to be available in all parts of the state by the end of 1998.
