American HomePatient Acquires Carolina Home Oxygen Medical Supply

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 1998--American HomePatient, Inc. (Nasdaq: AHOM), one of the nation's largest home health care companies, today announced the acquisition of Carolina Home Oxygen Medical Supply with annualized revenues of $2.3 million. Carolina Home Oxygen Medical Supply provides respiratory therapies and home medical equipment through two centers located in Kannapolis and Salisbury, N.C.
The two new locations bring the total number of American HomePatient centers in the state of North Carolina to 18. "The acquisition of Carolina Home Oxygen Medical Supply certainly enhances our regional density strategy within the state and especially within the Charlotte metropolitan service area," American HomePatient President and Chief Executive Officer Edward K. Wissing noted.
Danny and Steve Waller, former principals of Carolina Home Oxygen Medical Supply, will join American HomePatient as general manager and operations manager, respectively.
During 1997, American HomePatient acquired 27 companies with 62 centers and annualized revenues of approximately $74.6 million. American HomePatient has more than 300 centers located in 35 states. Its primary product and service offerings include respiratory services, infusion therapy, parenteral and enteral nutrition, and medical equipment and supplies for patients in the home. American HomePatient's common stock is traded on the Nasdaq Stock Market (National Market) under the symbol AHOM.
