V-ONE and ECUTEL Unite to Provide Secure VPN via Mobile IP Communications; ECUTEL to Integrate V-ONE's VPN Product, SmartGate, within Mobile IP Communication Software
Business Wire, July 14, 1998
GERMANTOWN, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 1998--V-ONE(R) Corporation (NASDAQ: VONE), the leaders in Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology, and ECUTEL, LLC, the leader in secure mobile IP technology, today announced an agreement under which both companies will develop and sell enhanced security technology for mobile users requiring access to sensitive corporate data. ECUTEL earlier announced its Viatore's Secure Mobile IP communications software suite, and V-ONE sells the award-winning SmartGate(R) VPN product family. Integrating Mobile IP communications with VPN technology allows remote users the ability to achieve the highest level of mobility while maintaining secure access to mission critical information.
ECUTEL's Viatores software suite is the first commercially available Internet communications solution to fully implement the emerging Mobile Internet Protocol with built in security. Viatores users can freely roam multiple networks and communicate as if the computer was always on the home network, with the confidence their information is not compromised -- much the way cellphones roam in varying service areas.
"Viatore's underlying network layer communications and Mobile IP functions will allow our SmartGate VPN remote users the ability to seamlessly traverse wireline and wireless networks," said Dave Dawson, President and CEO of V-ONE Corporation. "This added mobility is particularly effective for deployment of remote applications required in the law enforcement and military communities."
V-ONE's SmartGate is distributed client/server VPN software that combines strong authentication, authorization, accounting, encryption, key distribution, and access control into a complete and easy-to-deploy enabler package. SmartGate offers worldwide businesses and public agencies the ability to deploy secure Web, client/server, and legacy applications to large communities of employees, customers and partners.
"SmartGate's user authentication, encryption, access control and on-line registration for key distribution are established VPN security features that enterprises have come to expect for their remote users," said John Harrison, CEO of ECUTEL, LLC. "Integration of these features with our mobile IP portion of Viatores will provide proven security when exchanging sensitive or confidential information to the right person, at the right time -- wherever they are."
