JOIN Systems Names Tari Vickery as Chief Operating Officer To Spearhead Growth in Network Administration

Business Wire, July 14, 1998

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 1998--Tari Vickery has been named chief operating officer of JOIN Systems, a leader in IP management software. In this new position, she will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations, including development, support, sales/marketing and administration.

JOIN Systems provides address management software based on the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) standard, and other technologies such as DDNS.

Laird McCulloch, president of JOIN Systems, said, "As a management consultant, Tari has advised and coached management teams in several successful companies in the Bay Area and elsewhere. Developing and managing our company's growth requires the full-time attention of a highly-organized critical thinker, and we look forward to her strategic insights and guidance."

With more than two decades of first-hand experience in owning, building and managing a business, Vickery returned to Stanford University and received an A.B. and M.A. in Organization Studies. In recent years, Vickery has also participated in several research projects at Stanford, studying emerging companies in the high-tech and bio-tech fields. She says that one such study will be especially pertinent to the changing world of network administration and management: she investigated changes in organizational structure and decision-making practices resulting from market hyperturbulence.

Prior to attending Stanford, Vickery was also an entrepreneur in her own right, having founded and served as VP of finance and operations of a successful industrial products distributor.

JOIN has already established a leadership position among cable companies providing access to the Internet, a new, exploding market. "One of our biggest challenges is to maintain a balance between managing growth and continuing to provide the world-class support that our current customers have come to expect," Vickery said. "I look forward to leveraging my experience with exponential growth and helping JOIN achieve that next level of industry presence."

JOIN Systems was the first company to market a commercial implementation of the DHCP standard. Its customers include leading IT users such as 3Com, @Home Network, Chevron, and Texas Instruments.

JOIN Systems is a network software development company specializing in DHCP, DNS, and other address management technologies that simplify TCP/IP network administration. Headquartered in Menlo Park, California, JOIN Systems was formerly known as Competitive Automation.
