New Market Participants Join California Power Exchange

ALHAMBRA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 16, 1998--The California Power Exchange (PX) Thursday announced that the addition of four new participants has increased the number of trading members to a total of 41 certified to trade electricity in California's largest energy marketplace.
In his report to the PX board of governors, Chief Executive Officer George Sladoje said Aquila Power, California Department of Water Resources, City of Riverside and Engage Energy are the latest traders to join the PX.
The PX's 41 participants provide more than 90 percent of the electricity volume scheduled through the state's Independent System Operator, which operates the statewide transmission system.
In addition to the current participants, there are nearly two dozen firms involved in various stages of the member certification process. These include several California municipal utilities, energy services firms and commodities traders.
