Thrifty Rent-A-Car Chooses J.D. Edwards to Drive Productivity
and Streamline Financial Processes
Enterprise business software developer J.D. Edwards(R) (NASDAQ:JDEC) today announced that Thrifty Rent-A-Car System Inc. has chosen J.D. Edwards' OneWorld(tm) financial solution to fully integrate the company's financial systems and increase productivity.
"J.D. Edwards outperformed its competitors and overwhelmed our selection team with a unanimous vote. OneWorld met and exceeded our expectations," said Jerry Crawford, assistant controller and project leader at Thrifty.
Thrifty will utilize OneWorld's financial modeling and budgeting, procurement and inventory management applications to streamline its financial business processes. "OneWorld will help us improve our financial processes and work more efficiently," said Crawford. Thrifty plans to complete its OneWorld implementation in January 1999.
In addition to improving its financial system, Thrifty will also resolve its year 2000 issue with respect to the financial area. Thrifty will run OneWorld on Compaq servers operating Windows NT(R) and SQL Server. Since J.D. Edwards first introduced its network-centric software solution in August 1996, shipments of OneWorld enterprise software on the Microsoft(R) Windows NT operating system comprise more than two-thirds of all non-AS/400(R) licenses.
"The combined Compaq and J.D. Edwards products provide customers with a proven NT enterprise solution," said Bob Fernander, vice president of enterprise marketing in North America at Compaq. "We are excited about our joint win at Thrifty Rent-A-Car and look forward to further establishing the J.D. Edwards and Compaq partnership to a leadership position in the middle market."
